Chartered Sustainable Impact Investing Counselor (CSRIC®) Designation Renewed!

I just renewed my Chartered Sustainable Responsible Impact Investing Counselor™ (CSRIC®) designation for another year!  The CSRIC® designation took me over 6 months of studying and taking a test to earn.   The reason I decided to achieve the Chartered Sustainable Responsible Impact Investing Counselor™ (CSRIC®) designation is that I have had more and more clients asking me about this type of strategy and investing such as the ESG or Environmental Social and Governance strategy and rather than just doing an internet search to learn about it, which I did as well, I found this designation and it provided me access to all the research that the College of Financial Planning compiled on this subject to create the designation and a more focused way to learn about the topic of Sustainable, Responsible and Impact Investing.   I wanted to learn about the topic not because I am recommending this type of investing to my clients but I want to be able to answer their questi...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!   I hope that you and your family are doing well! Our research department at LPL Financial recently unveiled Outlook 2025: Pragmatic Optimism.   The annual update offers a comprehensive analysis of the economic and market environment.  I’m excited to bring to you a few of the key takeaways which I have summarized in the following video and in the paragraphs below.  Click the graphic below if you’d like to watch the video: Looking back on 2024, it clearly echoed many of the themes from 2023. There were some brief economic growth scares along the way, but the broader economy continued to defy expectations and surprised once again to the upside. Stocks continued their strong performance, putting the S&P 500 on track to record its second consecutive year of 20% plus returns. Powerful trends in artificial intelligence and technology have continued unabated and largely overshadowed other factors like election uncertainty, continued geopolit...

Just When We Recalibrated, Another Shock Arrived

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said last month’s decision to cut the fed funds target rate by a half percentage point was due to a “recalibrating” policy, as the Fed follows its dual mandate regarding inflation and growth. The new buzzword — recalibration — implies mechanical fine-tuning, but unfortunately, the macro economy is not that robotic. We are full of emotional people with ever-changing needs and wants. However, the buzzword also evokes something therapeutic; that is, the Fed is not cutting rates because of an imminent recession. In fact, the economy will likely grow above trend for yet another quarter or two. However, risks are rising for 2025. Blowout Payrolls, or Was It? We do not believe the Fed is cutting rates because a recession is just around the corner but rather because rates are still too restrictive. Yes, a slowdown looks likely next year, but for now, businesses are benefitting from a consumer on very good footing with higher income growth coupled with ...
